Guisborough neighbourhood area planning

Under the Localism Act 2011 and the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012, Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council approved the designation of the Guisborough Neighbourhood Area on the 11th July 2023.

In accordance with the Neighbourhood Planning Regulations 2012, Guisborough Town Council submitted the Guisborough Neighbourhood Plan to Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council and North York Moors National Park Authority, as the Local Planning Authorities (LPAs), for examination. 

In line with these regulations, the Councils conducted a consultation on the draft plan from Monday 10 November 2025 to Monday 22 December 2025.

Examination of the Guisborough Neighbourhood Plan

The examination of the Guisborough Neighbourhood Plan has now completed and the Independent Examiner, Patrick Whitehead, issued his final report on the plan on 9th March 2026.

Guisborough Neighbourhood Plan Area

The application for designation of the Guisborough Neighbourhood Area was submitted by Guisborough Town Council.

The Notice of Designation for the neighbourhood area and a map of the area can be viewed below.

The Neighbourhood Area covers the whole of the parish area of Guisborough Town Council with no additional land.
