Flooding investigations and reports

Information about flooding investigations and reports for the borough.

Under section 19 of the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 (FWMA) the Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) will respond to all reported flooding incidents and will make an assessment to determine if a detailed investigation is required under the terms of the Act.

When does the LLFA investigate a flood?

The Act requires investigations to be carried out if it meets the following criteria;

  • The internal flooding of a property on more than one occasion; or
  • The internal flooding of five or more properties during a single flood incident; or
  •  If the source of the incident or who is responsible is unknown.

Where can I find flood investigation reports?

You can make a request for a flood investigation report by sending an email to nigel.hill@redcar-cleveland.gov.uk
