Veterans UK

Veterans UK administers the Armed Forces pension schemes and compensation payments for those injured or bereaved through service. Veterans UK is part of the Ministry of Defence.

Citizens Advice Redcar

Citizens Advice Redcar has a dedicated team who will help you to resolve the problems you have. From welfare benefit and debt problems, to housing, relationship and immigration issues, they'll be able to help you.

There are many different kinds of financial help available for people in the Armed Forces, veterans, and their families. The Citizens Advice website can help you to find out what financial help might be available to you, depending on your situation. You can find organisations which might be able to help you further.

SSAFA

SSAFA provides financial, welfare, and emotional support to anyone who has served/or is still serving in the UK's Armed Forces and their immediate families. SSAFA operates in conjunction with Army, Royal Navy, and Royal Airforce charities, The Royal British Legion, and also with civilian charities and organisations which may be able to assist.

Jobcentre Plus

You can contact Jobcentre Plus about new benefit claims, existing benefit claims, and changing or cancelling an appointment.

There is a Jobcentre Plus office in Redcar who work with a range of welfare benefits and credits claimants, including those on Universal Credit, Jobseeker's Allowance, Income Support, Employment and Support Allowance, and Carer's Allowance.

As part of the Armed Forces Covenant, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has initiatives that help current and former armed forces personnel and your families access Jobcentre Plus services.

Stepchange

Stepchange offer free debt advice which is based on a comprehensive assessment of your situation. They then provide practical help and support for however long it’s needed.

The Officer's Association

The Officer's Association provides support and advice to former officers and their dependents. They can provide support on a variety of matters including employment, finances, housing, health, wellbeing, and volunteering.

Royal British Legion

The Royal British Legion can help to ease the burden of financial pressure for thousands of serving and ex-serving personnel every year. They provide specialist compensation advice, help with debt and emergency situations, and can support you through grant applications.

Money Advice Service

The Money Advice Service was set up by government and gives free and impartial advice.

Carers Together

Do you look after a relative, friend or neighbour? Does the person you care for and support have: a disability; an illness or health condition; a mental health problem; age related difficulties or an alcohol or drug problem?  If you need help, support, or information, contact Carers Together to talk confidentially to someone who understands your situation.

Age UK Teesside

Age UK Teesside is a charity working to help older people in Middlesbrough, Hartlepool, Redcar & Cleveland, and Stockton. Their staff and volunteers campaign and help over-50s with their health and wellbeing, finances, and independence in their communities.
