Supplementary planning documents

Supplementary planning documents (SPDs) form the Redcar and Cleveland Local Development Framework (LDF) which forms the development plan for Redcar and Cleveland.

Under the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004, supplementary planning documents (SPDs) are classified as local development documents within a LDF. Their role is to extend advice presented in existing policies in development plan documents (DPDs) or adopted 'saved' statutory policies. They will be subject to consultation but not independent examination and once adopted will be material considerations in the determination of planning applications.
