Families can make the most of the summer holidays at Redcar's newly upgraded play area by the seafront.
The play area has benefited from significant investment, with the old climbing frame replaced and additional swings and safety flooring being installed, creating a more inclusive and enjoyable space for children and families.
Accessibility has remained central to the project, building on the existing boat themed play feature and wheelchair accessible picnic benches. The improvements enhance the space further, ensuring everyone can enjoy the play area to the fullest.
Alongside the play area, families can make the most of their day using the neighbouring paddling pool, the only outdoor pool in the borough, which has also undergone recent repairs to its surface following damage caused by vandalism and anti-social behaviour.
To maintain the good condition and cleanliness of the pool, council officers will continue to deliver weekly cleanings, requiring the pool to be emptied on Monday and refilled on Thursday in preparation for the weekend.
Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods, Cllr Neil Bendelow, said:
"We are delighted to see these improvements and repairs completed at the play area and paddling pool in Redcar. This is a much-loved destination for families across the borough, particularly during the warmer months. By investing in new play equipment, accessibility improvements and repairs to the paddling pool, we are helping to ensure the area remains a safe and enjoyable place for everyone."
Cllr Adam Brook, who was involved in the project from the beginning, said:
"It's fantastic to see this popular seafront facility refreshed and ready for families to enjoy. The new play equipment and accessible features have transformed the area and will help ensure it remains an inclusive space for all."

The improvements form part of the Council's ongoing commitment to maintaining and enhancing public spaces across the borough, supporting opportunities for outdoor play, recreation and family-friendly activities.
