There are several organisations outside the Council providing a range of support for children and young people across the area. This is done through the Redcar and Cleveland Local Youth Partnership and here you can find more information about our partners.

Redcar and Cleveland Local Youth Partnership

The Redcar and Cleveland Local Youth Partnership has been established to strengthen the youth sector and ensure that young people in Redcar and Cleveland have access to the youth provision and support that will enable them to fulfil their potential. 

Any voluntary or charity sector Youth Work organisation is welcome to join the partnership.  If you would like more information, or to be added to our mailing list, please email youthservice@redcar-cleveland.gov.uk.

Doorways provides young people aged between 13-25 years from East Cleveland with support for:
confidence and self-esteem building, anxiety and depression, employability, and communication skills. 

They are committed to help young people with their emotional health and mental well-being so that they can progress in their life journey.

They offer drop in sessions, school based one-to-one sessions, workshops and both youth activities both inside and outside the hub.

Hope Church East Cleveland

Hope Church East Cleveland provides a range of activities for children and young people including games, arts and crafts, holiday clubs and youth sessions.

Friday Night - choice of games, board games, crafts arts, tuck shop open, games hall:

  • Blast Youth: for ages 5-9yrs - 6pm until 7.30pm - £1 entry
  • Ignite & Blaze Youth: for ages10-16yrs - 7.30pm until 9pm - £1 entry

Holiday sessions for 4-9 year-olds and 10-16 year olds, these vary on different dates. They are free for children on Free School Meals. Otherwise, they cost between £0 - £3 or more depending on the trip.

Premier League Kicks

Weekly football and multi-sport sessions are taking place on evenings within the most deprived areas across the Tees Valley. These sessions are a positive tool to help tackle crime and antisocial behaviour. The programme works closely with Cleveland Police to help break down the barriers between uniform services and young people through the power of the MFC badge.   

Premier League Kicks aims are to:

  1. Increase playing, coaching and officiating opportunities in football and a range of sports for children and young people between 8-18 years
  2. Enhance physical and mental wellbeing, including self-esteem, ambition and social skills
  3. Strengthen communities with a culture of volunteering, social action and positive role models – supporting education, training and employment pathways focusing on 16-25 year olds.
  4. Work in partnership with young people, the police and other stakeholders to support the younger generation with the societal challenges they face (eg youth violence) and to improve community safety
  5. Inspire young people to develop positive, supportive relationships with one another and the authorities
  6. Promote integration and champion equality, diversity and inclusion
  7. Regular fully inclusive competitions and experience days for young people

The Link Charitable Trust

The Link Charitable Trust (LCT) works with children, young people, families and adults to promote positive family life and relationships by providing supportive activities for all.  The LCT supports positive changes to their lives through a range of emotional, social and wellbeing activities and services within the community.  It offers open access to support, advice and guidance, for as long as it is felt to be needed. We service Redcar and East Cleveland.

Groups on offer for 0-13years are:- Tots Crafty Crew, Art and Social Groups, Wellbeing Social, Home School Educated Support Group and 1:1 outreach

Groups on offer for 14+ are:- Ambient Teen Group, Thriving Appetites cooking group and 1:1 outreach.

For Parents and families we offer a Drop-in every Wednesday at 'The Living Room' at The Palace Hub, Redcar, where on the last Wednesday of each month RCBC Family Hub team members will be on hand for help and support.  

We also have an 8 week positive parenting support group.

Children and Young People (5-21)

A safe space for extra learning and play, with revision, games, and regulation activities.

  1. Direct 1 to 1 support – helping individuals with what they want, whether it’s homework, skill development, CV writing, interviews, or independence training.
  2. Star steps: Fun, inclusive activities designed to build academic skills through creativity—like making your own stories or completing jigsaw story challenges.
  3. Arts and Crafts: get creative and make unique projects like night lights and collages to take home and treasure.
  4. Physical Play: adaptive, Inclusive, fun sessions that get all children and young people moving through dance, regulation movements, and games like parachute play. Accessible for everyone, including those who are non-verbal or use a wheelchair.
  5. Open Play: a chance to explore, have fun with our toys, join in games, or just chill out and make new friends.

Adults

Sessions, such as coffee and chat sessions, are held to socialise with others.

Workshop sessions to help teach how to support someone with needs or manage your own. 

  1. Personalised 1:1 support to help individuals with what they need – from understanding postal letters and terminology, securing an EHCP, attending meetings, to having an advocate. The team works with each person on an individual level.
  2. SEND Workshops: explore a new topic each week, gain useful information, and have the chance to ask questions in a supportive space.
  3. Coffee & Chat: a relaxed space to connect with others who share similar challenges, and the chance to talk openly and freely.
  4. Open Support: drop-in sessions where individuals can talk with a team member about challenges they’ve faced during the week and receive support.

We hope to provide these services in the new year.

Blank Canvas is a Christian youth charity which seeks to help young people create new stories of hope. Blank Canvas provides a number of safe spaces, advocacy work and spaces to explore faith for young people in secondary school and college. They partner with local churches to support them in their engagement with young people, often utilising the great spaces that churches have. Additionally, in partnership with local secondary schools we run intervention programmes for young people in Year 9.

YAFA Programme

Youth and family advocacy is where we can offer listening support to a young person on a one to one basis following a referral. Working with each young person, their family and school, this support aims to build resilience in young people going forward.

Rubies

Rubies Charity works across Middlesbrough and Redcar and Cleveland and is committed to empowering girls and young women by helping them recognise their value, build confidence, and develop resilience. Founded in 2017 in response to a report highlighting the challenges faced by girls in the area, Rubies provides trauma-informed support through school-based programmes, youth work, and counselling services. The charity works with over 300 girls each year, offering safe spaces and positive role models to inspire growth and self-belief. Named after the precious gem formed under pressure, Rubies believes every girl is valuable, no matter her background or circumstances.
