Comment on a planning application

Information about how you can make comments on existing planning applications

Before you make a comment

You can view current planning applications on this website. In addition, planning applications can be viewed at Redcar and Cleveland House, Kirkleatham Street, Redcar. You may also be able to view applications at your parish/town council offices. Please telephone your local office in advance of your visit to establish if this is possible.

Should you wish to comment on a planning application, please note the public consultation end date of the application. Whilst any comments made after this date, but before the date of decision, will still be taken into consideration, you should aim to make your representation before the public consultation end date to avoid missing the opportunity to comment.

All comments received in respect of planning applications will become background papers (as defined in the Access to Information Act 1985) and will be published on the our website within the planning application documentation, being available for public inspection. By making a representation, you are consenting to your name and address being included in the planning file and online.

Ways to make comments

  • go to the Online Applications Register (via Search for a Planning Application) and select Planning Search.
  • find the relevant application you wish to comment on within the search and click on the application number. This page will then show a number of headers (or tabs).
