About Registration Services
Registration Services – Update 30th September 2020
In response to the current coronavirus pandemic, government guidance on maintaining social distance and limiting contact and guidance from the General Register Office, we have made some changes to registration services.
The Register Office will operate on an appointment only basis. Please phone 01642 444440 to arrange an appointment. If we are unable to answer immediately, please leave a message including your name and contact number and we will respond to you as soon as possible.
Registering a Death
Registration is by appointment only and will be completed over the telephone eliminating the need for a relative / informant to attend the office in person.
Appointments can be made by telephoning 01642 444440. Advice will be given on the information you will need to register the death when you book your appointment.
Marriages / Civil Partnerships / Citizenship and other Ceremonies
In line with Government guidance, ceremonies are currently able to take place with a maximum of 15 people attending the ceremony, at a licenced venue. This number consist of up to 13 guests and the couple marrying (you do not need to include the officiants or photographers within this number).
For weddings taking place at external venues please contact the venue direct in relation to the Covid measures they have in place.
Please note if you wanting to marry, or are due to marry at the Redcar & Cleveland Leisure and Community Heart, due to the size of the ceremony room, it can currently only accommodate up to 12 guests and the couple marrying. Masks must be worn by all guests during the ceremony (unless a guest has been classified as medically exempt from wearing a mask).
If you are marrying at the Redcar & Cleveland Leisure and Community Heart (including the Register Office), please be aware that all guests including the couple marrying will need to do Track and Trace on entering the building and have their temperatures taken. Temperatures need to be 37.5 degrees or below, you are also asked to use the hand sanitation stations within the building.
Registering a Birth
Registration is by appointment only. Appointments can be made by telephoning 01642 444440. Due to the current Covid restrictions, parents are asked, where possible, to attend the appointment without children.
If you would like to purchase a copy of a birth, death or marriage certificate then please telephone 01642 444440, alternatively you can complete a form on Tees Valley Indexes website and this can be e-mailed to us (please note we will contact you once the e-mail is received to take payment).
