How to register
Eligibility
Residents eligible to vote are those who:
- Are aged 18 and over – 16/17-year-olds can register to vote but will only be able to vote once they are 18
- Live in Redcar and Cleveland
- Are a British, Irish, a qualifying Commonwealth citizen or European Union citizen – Please see Electoral Commission website for more information at Register to vote | Electoral Commission
- Please note all EU citizens can only vote in local elections
Necessary documents
In order to register to vote, you will need:
- Date of birth
- National Insurance number
- Previous address – this will remove your details from your previous address
The National Insurance number can be found in:
- A letter received when you turn 16
- Payslips, pension letters or on letters about benefits of tax credits
