The Historic Environment Record (HER) is a database that holds information on known archaeological sites, finds, landscapes, buildings and other aspects of the historic environment.
In addition, it contains information on past research and investigations.
The HER is a valuable source of information for anyone interested in the archaeology and history of Redcar and Cleveland.
Computerised details include site type, period, description of known history and condition, and sources of further information.
Searching the Historic Environment Record (HER)
An online search can be requested by email and the result generated dispatched by email in the form of excel spreadsheets and a PDF map, which depicts the site locations as enumerated points.

| HER expedited search and report conducted by RCBC staff (commercial). Response within 2 working days. | £255 first hour, and £80 per subsequent hours (or part thereof). |
| HER search by appointment or post conducted by RCBC staff (non-commercial). |
Initial first 30 minutes free. £42 per hour thereafter. Additional charges for printing and postage & packaging. |
All fees are not subject to VAT.
