Foodbanks

Information about foodbanks in Redcar and Cleveland and where to find them

How do I access a foodbank?

You will usually need a referral to access a foodbank.  A good place to ask for a referral is Citizens Advice: for more information, please visit the Citizens Advice website or call 01642 030000 for the Redcar Office, (Open Mon – Fri, 9am – 5pm) or call the national line on 0800 144 8848.

If you tell them you need a foodbank, they will be able to arrange an appointment with an advisor, who will ask you questions about your income and needs, and can refer you to the nearest foodbank if you are eligible.

  • Frontline professionals such as GPs, social workers and health visitors will also be able to arrange a referral and give you a food voucher if they think you need emergency food.
  • Your local food bank should be able to tell you which referral agencies they work with in your area, and how you can get a voucher.
