Community care and support

Services which help you with everyday activities and personal care.

Community care and support services are also known as home care or domiciliary care. By accessing these services we can support you to keep your independence for as long as possible.

The types of support that they offer include:

  • helping you getting out of bed or getting ready for bed
  • personal care such as washing or dressing
  • getting out and about in your community
  • cooking or preparing meals
  • taking medication.

Arranging community care

If we are funding some or all of your care and support your social care worker can organise the service for you. 

If you want to arrange your own community care and support services, you can use the People's Information Network to search for organisations in your area.  

We also have a list of preferred providers which is a list of organisations that have a contract with us. The organisations on this list are regularly checked by us to make sure that they are safe and reliable.  You can find more information about these providers below:
