The Annual Governance Statement presents a statement of those matters of significance affecting the management of the Council's affairs.
The Annual Governance Statement prior to 2011/12 was embedded within the Annual Statement of Accounts, now it is produced as a standalone document, but still approved in conjunction with the Annual Statement of Accounts
The Annual Governance Statement deals with three topics:
- the systems that the Council has in place which provide the Council's governance arrangements
- a review of the risks that were identified in last year's Annual Governance Statement and how the Council has addressed those risks
- the identification of the major risks facing the Council moving forward
