The home to school transport service supports young learners by providing transport to local schools.
Eligibility for school transport
A child may be an eligible for assistance with travel if they meet one or more of the following categories:
- If a child aged below 8 years old lives more than 2 miles away from their nearest school.
- If a child aged 8-16 years old lives more than 3 miles away from their nearest school.
- Children from low income families whose nearest school is more than 2 miles away.
- Children with special educational needs that prevent them from safely walking to school.
- Children living in temporary/emergency accommodation.
- Children who are in the care of the local authority.
- Children with parents who have disabilities.
- Children with temporary mobility issues.
- Children who are unable to walk safely to school.
