​​Book an​ Appointment at Dunsdale Recycling Centre

We have put an appointment booking system and a number of restrictions in place to ensure everybody's safety.


There is no charge to make this booking and the only details requested are your name, postcode, vehicle details and email address to send you a confirmation


What are the restrictions?

The restrictions are as follows:

  • You can only use the site if you make an appointment first;
  • the site will be open to cars at any time of day;
  • Vans, permit type vehicles or passenger vehicles based on a van chassis must make an appointment using the Permit Type Vehicle link available on the booking system;​
  • We can only allow one person per car (with the exception of Blue Badge holders, who can be accompanied by one family member);
  • Social distancing of at least two metres will be strictly enforced;
  • Site staff will not be able to assist with unloading;
  • A one way, no overtaking system is in in operation for your safety so please be patient as your departure may be delayed by a vehicle tipping in front of you;
  • Mattresses must be wrapped and taped.


How do I book an appointment?

If you want to use the Household Waste Recycling Centre, due to COVID 19 restrictions, you have to book an appointment. You can do this online by clicking the button below:​

Appointments are available from 8am to 5pm, seven days a week. You can book an arrival based on 15 minute segments. Each 15 minute hour slot will accommodate a maximum of 17 bookings, available on a first-come, first-served basis.


We currently require a minimum of 24 hours between the day on which you book and the slot you are booking, as a result you may be able to see slots that are not fully booked but which you cannot book because they are within the next 24 hours. We are working to improve our booking system but booking online remains the fastest way to book.


Residents who do not have internet access can book an appointment slot by calling Customer Services on 01642 774774. Again, you cannot book a slot within the next 24 hours by telephone.


Please note – this booking system is for Redcar and Cleveland residents only. You will need to provide a postcode when booking and bring proof of address when you attend the centre.


There is a very high demand for appointments so please be patient.


Will I need to show proof of address?

Yes. When you attend your pre-booked slot, we advise that proof of address should be your council tax bill, a recent utility bill or driving licence


What if I have a van, large 4x4, trailer or other vehicle based on a van chassis?

Such vehicles will need to purchase a permit upon arrival at the site

Where can I buy a permit to bring a van, or other permit type vehicle?

You can pay on entry to the site but please note, payments are by card only and contactless is available. The charge is £8.50 but please check the website above before loading your vehicle as some vehicles are not admitted under any circumstances.


Can I get into the site without an appointment?

No. Please do not come to the site if you have not got an appointment as you will not be granted access. And if you do have an appointment, please arrive on time as we can only allow you access at the time you have booked. If you miss your appointment slot, you will have to book another one.


When should I arrive?

Arrive no earlier than your designated time slot. If you arrive after your time slot, we cannot guarantee that you will be allowed entry and you will be instructed to make another appointment.


Can I cancel my appointment?

Yes.​ You can do this through the online booking system or by calling our customer services team on 01642 774774.
