The Growth, Enterprise and Environment Directorate (GEE) is responsible for many place-based services that shape how the borough develops, how it is maintained, how sustainable it is, and its cultural and tourism offer for residents and visitors.
From the strategic planning role to the delivery of major infrastructure projects, and the numerous maintenance activities that take place every day, GEE ensures the borough is a dynamic, safe, and vibrant place to live work and visit.
The unique nature of the borough provides a range of challenges and opportunities due to its extensive coastline, its proximity to the North Yorkshire Moors National Park, and having one of Europe’s largest brownfield industrial development sites within its boundary.
The directorate provides many front-line services that residents rely on every day, which are continually evolving due to the challenges of climate change, new technology and ever changing legislative and financial imperatives.
This requires highly motivated individuals and teams with a range of skills and abilities, all working together to deliver this exciting agenda across the GEE Directorate and the wider council.
