Redcar Central Station

Redcar Central Station is a Grade-II listed Victorian station and train shed in the heart of Redcar. Find out how we want to bring it back into use.

Redcar Central Station is a Grade II listed Victorian station and train shed built in c1860 for the extension coastwards of the Stockton-Darlington railway. It was last in use as a business centre which closed in 2013 and has not seen railway use since the late 1980s.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council have taken a long lease of the building from the Arch Company, a new organisation that purchased the majority of Network Rail's commercial properties in 2019.

The Station building and train shed have been sympathetically restored to their former glory with aspirations for a mix of daytime and evening uses such as: Brewery tap/ bar, restaurant, shops, café, flexible spaces, markets, events, community activities, flexible workspaces, Toilets (including accessible spaces and changing facilities).
