Who are we?
We are a specialist exploitation team who work with children, young people and their families and carers to respond to, reduce, and disrupt risks of exploitation in Redcar and Cleveland.
We are all about building relationships, listening and responding to the voices of our children, young people, families and carers so that we can enable positive change and make things safer for children and families.
Who we support
We work with professionals in Children’s Social Care and other agencies to provide help and support so that children and young people can be safe. We help families and carers when they need it. We support children and young people from 0 to 18 years old.
We work with children, families and carers who require support with things that may include:
- Keeping children safe online or in the community
- Reducing risks outside the home including exploitation
- Helping to keep families together
Our team
Our team is made up of Children’s Social Workers, Families Together Officers, Education and Substance Misuse specialists and coordinators. We are based within Children’s Services in Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council.
Our team are based at:
Grangetown Youth and Community Centre
Grange Farm Road
TS6 7HP
We work closely with other multi-agency professionals including housing, health, education, community safety, police, substance misuse services, probation, youth justice, and many more.
Our work
Working with family networks, being child-led, strengths-based, trauma-informed and responding to the needs of children, families and carers to prevent situations or relationships breaking down. We offer support and guidance. We provide training and support to Children’s Social Care, schools and partner agencies around contextual safeguarding (risks outside the home and exploitation).
Our key aspirations are to build trusted relationships with children and young people, where we create opportunities to fully understand their context and walk their journey with them when risks are at their highest, so that we can enable change and increase safety for them.
We build and maintain positive relationships with our partner agencies and communities through training, events and providing key points of contact to enable voices to be heard and create a passion for disrupting risks of exploitation in our Borough.
Our values
Our culture is all about relationships, listening and responding to the voices of our young people so that we can enable positive change and make things safer for them.
