Exclusive right of burial

Information about deeds (otherwise known as exclusive right of burial) and transfer of deeds can be found here.

Transfer Of Deeds

Where the owner of the exclusive right of burial is still alive and wishes the deed to be transferred to relatives the Assignment of Exclusive Right of Burial form may be used.

The form should be completed and returned to the Bereavement Services Office with the original deed.

The transfer form is available upon request by contacting the Bereavement Services team by email or by calling 01642 444420 / 01642 444421.

The fee for this would be £88.00 but this would be payable only on completion of the transfer.

Where the owner of the exclusive right of burial has died and the deceased’s relation would like the deeds transferring into their name the particular circumstances must be discussed with the Bereavement Services office.

The fee for this would be £88.00 but this would be payable only on completion of the transfer.

Duplicate Deeds

Duplicate deeds are a photocopy of the original deed in the Authority’s possession and cost £18.00 and this is payable at the time of the request.
