Find out how to book an appointment at Dunsdale tip.

We have put an appointment booking system and a number of restrictions in place to ensure everybody's safety and offer easy access to all residents of the Borough.

There is no charge to make this booking and the only details requested are your name, postcode, vehicle details and email address to send you a confirmation

What are the restrictions?

The restrictions are as follows:

  • You can only use the site if you make an appointment first;
  • The site will be open to cars at any time of day;
  • Residents with the following vehicle types need to select the 'Vans and permit type vehicles' option when booking an appointment - 2 door flat-bed truck, vans/minibus/campervan up to 3.5 tonnes or any vehicle based on a van chassis such as a Tourneo/Berlingo etc.
  • Any vehicle with a trailer is required to select the 'Vans and permit type vehicles' option when booking an appointment.
  • Vehicles adapted to accommodate residents with disabilities eg wheelchair ramps, must also book an appointment. Such vehicles should book a car appointment and show their badge on entry;
  • Site staff may ​not be able to assist with unloading;
  • A one way, no overtaking system is in in operation for your safety so please be patient as your departure may be delayed by a vehicle tipping in front of you;
  • Mattresses must be wrapped/bagged and taped;
  • The site is in an exposed location so at times of extreme weather, we may need to close the site without prior warning due wind, ice or snow etc.

How do I book an appointment?

If you want to use the Waste Recycling Centre, you MUST book an appointment using our online booking system.

Appointments for cars are available from 8am to 5pm, seven days a week. Cars can book an arrival based on 15 minute segments. Each 15 minute hour slot will accommodate a maximum number of bookings available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Vans and other permit type vehicles can book a slot based on 30 minute segments any day between 8am and 10.30am​

Please note – this booking system is for Redcar and Cleveland residents only. You will need to provide a postcode when booking and bring proof of address when you attend the centre.

At peak times, weekends and bank holidays, there can be a very high demand for appointments so please be patient and book early.​

Will I need to show proof of address?

Yes. When you attend your pre-booked slot, we advise that proof of address should be your council tax bill, a recent utility bill or driving licence

Can I cancel my appointment?

Yes.​ You can do this by simply selecting the “cancel” option at the bottom of your booking confirmation email or by calling our customer services team on 01642 774774.​​

Where can I buy a permit to bring a van, or other permit type vehicle?

Entry is now free, but you must still book a slot using the Booking Page selecting “vans or permit type vehicles”.

Please check the website above before loading your vehicle as some vehicles are not admitted under any circumstances.

Can I get into the site without an appointment?

No. Please do not come to the site if you have not got an appointment as you will not be granted access. And if you do have an appointment, please arrive on time as we can only allow you access at the time you have booked. If you miss your appointment slot, you will have to book another one.

When should I arrive?

Arrive no earlier than your designated time slot. If you arrive after your time slot, we cannot guarantee that you will be allowed entry and you will be instructed to make another appointment.
