Under Section 41a of the Highways act 1980 the Council has a statutory duty to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, that safe passage along a highway is not endangered by snow or ice.
As part of our Winter Service Plan we grit and plough routes throughout Redcar and Cleveland in anticipation of and in response to bad weather in the area.
The Gritting Map provides details of the routes our gritters take across the Borough.
When our gritting teams are out, a black line will show you where the gritters have been within the last 7 hours and will show you the current location for active gritters.
You can also hover over the black line to see when that point was passed in the last 7 hours or search for your own address to see activity on routes nearby.
