Information about the Governance Committee's responsibilities, scheduled meeting and available meeting papers to download.

The Governance Committee acts as the Council’s Audit and Standards Committee being responsible for:

  1. Monitoring and reviewing the Council’s audit activity, which includes the internal audit strategy
  2. Receiving regular reports on audits of specific service areas
  3. Overseeing the Council’s regulatory framework: contracts, financial regulations and risk management
  4. Monitoring the treasury management strategy the sign off the accounts and considering the external auditor’s report
  5. Supporting the authority in meeting its statutory duty to promote and maintain high standards of conduct by Councillors and Parish Councillors in accordance with the seven principles of public life, as follows:
  • Selflessness
  • Integrity
  • Objectivity
  • Accountability
  • Openness
  • Honesty
  • Leadership
