​Governor Training​​​​

The Governance Support Service provides a range of training opportunities for school governors.

Induction Training
A 3-module Induction Programme is offered at least once each term. 

Central Development Programme
Development courses are run on a range of topics, delivered at a central venue in the authority for governors from different schools to attend. These courses are offered under a service level agreement, whereby schools pay a one-off fee at the beginning of the year for unlimited attendance on governor training courses by governors, associate members, the head teacher, or, for relevant courses, school administrative staff. Governing bodies do still have the option to pay for attendance at training courses within the central development programme on a "Pay-as-You-Go" basis.

In-House Training
Any of the courses provided in the central programme can be delivered to individual governing bodies on an in-house basis. Alternatively, sessions can be tailored to the needs of the individual governing body. Any requests for in-house training sessions should be directed through Donna Scott, Manager of Governor Services. These sessions do not necessarily form part of the buy-back package and cost will be negotiated individually where they apply.
