​​​​Applying for a Primary School Place

Applications should be made online wherever possible. You can apply on​line by visiting school admissions website. However, paper forms will be available for those who do not have access to the online facility.

Applications should be made by all parents living within Redcar & Cleveland, who wish to express a preference for their child to be admitted to a reception class of a primary school within the Redcar & Cleveland area.

Parents, who wish to express a preference for their child to be admitted to a reception class in a school maintained by another authority, should also apply to R​edcar and Cleveland. The application will then be passed to the authority concerned.

Parents can express up to three preferences for schools in rank order and to give reasons for their preference. Parents should also provide supplementary information in support of any special reasons for their preferences. 

The LEA will make arrangements to ensure that application information is sent to all parents whose children are eligible for admission to reception classes in the 2017/2018 school year and who are resident within Redcar and Cleveland. If you do not receive any primary school application information from Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, please contact the school admissions team on 01642 837740 or 837730.

Where parents express a preference for a Roman Catholic school, a supplementary form has also to be completed in order to provide information to enable the governing body, as admissions authority, to apply their own admissions criteria if necessary. The supplementary form is not available as part of the main online application and will be included in the application packs for children already attending a nursery within a Roman Catholic primary school. Other parents wishing to make a preference for a Roman Catholic primary school should contact the school admissions team on 01642 837740 or 837730 to request the form.

Closing Date for Applications
Paper application forms and supplementary forms must be returned to the Local Authority (LA) before the closing date for applications. Where applications have been received late without good cause, they will not be considered until after all applications received on time have been considered.
