23 March 2018
On 23rd March 2018, Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council received the Inspectors Report into the Examination of the Redcar & Cleveland Local Plan. The Report sets out the Inspectors recommendations in relation to the Plan and his reasons for them. The Report concludes that the Redcar & Cleveland Local Plan provides an appropriate basis for planning in the Borough, provided the recommended Main Modifications are made.

20 November 2017
The Examination hearing sessions took place during September and October 2017. The Council is consulting on the proposed Main Modifications to the Local Plan. The Main Modifications have been proposed following the Examination and are considered necessary to make the plan sound/or legally compliant. The Main Modifications are proposed without prejudice to the Inspectors final conclusions on the Local Plan, which will take account of all representations submitted in response to this consultation. This consultation is not an opportunity to raise again matters relating to other parts of the submitted Plan that have already been considered by the Inspector during the examination. The Inspector will only consider representations from this consultation which relate to the Main Modifications. Representations should be made regarding legal compliance and soundness only. 

The consultation on the Main Modifications will run until 5:00pm on Wednesday 10 January 2018. The Schedule of Main Modifications and other associated documents can be downloaded from the Council's consultation portal by selecting the following link:


9 November 2017

6 October 2017

2 October 2017
The Council has added a note to the Examination Library to provide additional evidence to supplement its Matter 2 hearing statement [EX/RC/037].

20 September 2017: 
The Council's response to EX/OTH/004 from Croft Transport is now available to download from the Examination Library under reference: [EX/RC/035]. 

The proposed new layout submitted by Taylor Wimpey for Rowan Garth, Redcar is now available to download from the Examination Library under reference: [EX/OTH/005]. 

The Council have added the Estimated Housing Supply Breakdown Between Sub-Areas and Settlements to the Examination Library [EX/RC/036].

14 September 2017 
The Council's 5 year Housing Land Supply position with OAN of 285dpa is now available to download from the Examination Library under reference number:  [EX/RC/034].

12 September 2017
The Statement of Common Ground between Taylor Wimpey, Innogy and Doggerbank Offshore Wind Farm Project 3 Limited is available to download from the Examination Library under reference number: [EX/OTH/003]. 

The Preliminary Vehicular Access Note for site H 3.16 (Land at Mickle Dales) is also available to view in the Examination Library under reference: EX/OTH/004.

8 September 2017
The Council has added the Cabinet Report (inc. appendix) on the study jointly commissioned by Redcar & Cleveland and Middlesbrough Councils into the feasibility of a new road linking Swans Corner with the A174 Parkway to the Examination Library under reference numbers: [EX/RC/029] [EX/RC/030].

7 September 2017 
The Council's breakdown of housing proposed in the rural area is now available to download from the Examination Library​.

5 September 2017
The Councils Interim Mitigation Strategy and Draft Recreation Mitigation Strategy in respect of the Teesmouth Coast SPA and Ramsar Site are now available here. 


31 August 2017

21 July 2017
The Hearing Sessions Programme and the Inspector's Matters, Issues and Questions for examination can be viewed in the Examination Library.

3 July 2017 
The Council has responded to the Inspectors letter following the Woodcock Wood appeal. Document EX/RC/004 can be viewed in the Examination library

2 June 2017
The Council has now responded to the Inspectors Initial Questions. Documents EX/RC/003, EX/RC/003a and EX/RC/003b can be viewed in the Examination library.

30 May 2017
The Examination hearings are expected to commence in early September 2017 and will take place at Redcar & Cleveland Leisure and Community Heart, Ridley Street, Redcar, TS10 1TD. Further information will follow once details are finalised.

19 April 2017 
The Council has now submitted the Local Plan to the Secretary of State for examination to test the soundness of the plan. The Submission Statement can be found here.
