On 23rd March 2018, Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council received the Inspectors Report into the Examination of the Redcar & Cleveland Local Plan. The Report sets out the Inspectors recommendations in relation to the Plan and his reasons for them. The Report concludes that the Redcar & Cleveland Local Plan provides an appropriate basis for planning in the Borough, provided the recommended Main Modifications are made.Local Plan Inspectors Report.pdf

The Examination hearing sessions took place during September and October 2017. The Council is consulting on the proposed Main Modifications to the Local Plan. The Main Modifications have been proposed following the Examination and are considered necessary to make the plan sound/or legally compliant. The Main Modifications are proposed without prejudice to the Inspectors final conclusions on the Local Plan, which will take account of all representations submitted in response to this consultation. This consultation is not an opportunity to raise again matters relating to other parts of the submitted Plan that have already been considered by the Inspector during the examination. The Inspector will only consider representations from this consultation which relate to the Main Modifications. Representations should be made regarding legal compliance and soundness only.
The consultation on the Main Modifications will run until 5:00pm on Wednesday 10 January 2018. The Schedule of Main Modifications and other associated documents can be downloaded from the Council's consultation portal by selecting the following link:

The Examination hearings are expected to commence in early September 2017 and will take place at Redcar & Cleveland Leisure and Community Heart, Ridley Street, Redcar, TS10 1TD. Further information will follow once details are finalised.

The Council has now submitted the Local Plan to the Secretary of State for examination to test the soundness of the plan. The Submission Statement can be found here.
