Routes to Employment Team
Has been in existence for over 20 years and its purpose is to:
•Facilitate recruitment & selection for jobs for Redcar & Cleveland employers.
•Remove any final barriers to employment for Redcar & Cleveland residents e.g. initial transport costs , provision of PPE, training.
•Provide appropriate information, advice and guidance to residents of the Borough seeking employment.
•Support employers to access or signpost them to any available funding towards Apprentice salaries.
•Support employers with the recruitment of Apprentices.
•Signpost employers to source appropriate vocational training.
Routes to Work Team
Routes to Work is a Tees Valley wide initiative funded by Department of Works and Pensions (DWP) and Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA) to support those hardest to help move towards employment. Redcar & Cleveland Council have a proven track record gained over 20 years of experience of supporting residents into education, employment or training.
Our service is available to all unemployed Redcar & Cleveland residents who meet the eligibility criteria:
Customer Eligibility (Voluntary)
In all cases the customer must be aged 30 or over, not be in work and either:
•disengaged from the benefits system or:
•receiving benefit
plus fall within any of 1-4 below:
1. Long term (2yrs +) unemployed /inactive benefits.
2. Claim to Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) rejected.
3. In the ESA support group (health/disability).
4. Have been out of work for min 13 weeks and be unlikely to find work in the next 12 months, due to having significant or multiple barriers to work. This could include:
•Ex-offenders;
•Health/MH or disability
•BME/ESOL needed
•Special Educational Needs / Disabilities
•Drug/alcohol dependencies
•50+
•Lone parents
•Returners to the labour market
•Roma/travellers
•Refugees
•Carers
•Care Leavers
•Homeless
•Ex Forces
