​​​​​What can be recycled in your blue recycling bin?

Residents can make use of their blue recycling bin to dispose of the following:

  • ​​Cans
  • Tins 
  • Empty aerosols
  • Mixed glass bottles and jars
  • White, grey and brown cardboard
  • Plastic bottles
  • Yoghurt pots

What goes in your paper caddy?
Please use your paper caddy to recycle all types of paper including:
  • Mixed paper
  • Newspapers
  • Magazines
  • Telephone directories
  • Paperback books​

I have too much recycling.​
If you have filled your recycling bin, you can present excess recycling waste in clear bags alongside their recycling bin for collection

What can't be recycled?
Some commons items cannot be recycled. Items that cannot be recycled contaminate our loads which cost the Council money to dispose of. These items include:
  • ​Foil trays
  • Food waste
  • Household waste
  • Black plastic
  • Pizza boxes
  • Polystyrene
  • Black bin liners
  • Hard plastics (such as children's toys)
  • ​Textiles
These items can placed in your househo​ld waste bin or can be taken to Dunsdale Household Waste Recycling Centre.
