The Big Friendly Read - Summer Reading Challenge

Big Friendly GiantThis year’s summer reading challenge is for children aged 4-11 years old and is based on a Roald Dahl theme of ‘The Big Friendly Read’.

The challenge is to read six books over the summer holidays and make regular visits to the library.

The Big Friendly Reading Challenge runs across all libraries in the borough during the school summer holidays.

Festival of Thrift - Get Singing (Open Rehearsal Dates)

Festival of Thrift Choir Come and join the specially formed scratch choir performing at this year's Festival of Thrift being held on 17th & 18th September at Kirkleatham, Redcar.

The process is open to all and will result in a performance to be presented once each day at the Festival, as well as a band of invisible singers who will pop up across the site throughout the weekend.

classic recitalLee Jae Phang, Originally from Malaysia, Lee Jae studied at the Wells Cathedral School under John Byrne. Since arriving in the U.K., Lee Jae has participated in master classes with eminent piano professors, including Christopher Elton, Vanessa Latarche and Ronan O’Hora. He has also taken  lessons from Michel Beroff, Nelson Goerner and Stephen Hough.
