Volunteer in Redcar and Cleveland

Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council recognise the vital contribution volunteers can make to improve life in the local community and the services we provide as a council. Volunteers are regarded as a valuable resource to our organisation and we are committed to increasing voluntary opportunities within the Borough.

There are no set criteria for hours we expect volunteers to offer, each hour you can offer is a valuable contribution. There is no upper age limit; however we do insist volunteers are at least 16 years old. (younger people will be considered depending on area of work)

No matter what your past experiences have been we are sure that your skills, knowledge and experiences can be put to good use within our organisation.

If you are a community group in need of volunteers and would like your opportunities advertised, please contact either Karen or Sophie on the numbers below.

If you would like more information on the volunteering opportunities available within the council please contact the Volunteer Team:

Meet some of the Volunteers across the borough

Peter Thomas, Countryside Volunteer

Volunteering has helped me to turn my life around after I lost my leg in a motorbike accident over 20 years ago. I was in a wheelchair for nearly 3 years and looking for something to motivate me and get me out of bed in the morning so I decided to volunteer at Flatts Lane Woodland Country Park.
I started by doing lighter duties on site and progressed to become a Countryside Volunteer which I really enjoy. I also work in film and television now for a company called Amputees in Action volunteering has helped me get my life back on track.

Leo Croft, Archive Volunteer

I started volunteering at Kirkleatham Museum as I was keen to gain some valuable work experience. I am studying History at Teesside University and wanted to gain practical experience of the workplace to compliment my studies.
I am extremely interested in the arts and culture and would eventually like to become an art critic so gaining experience whilst doing something worthwhile is really important to me.
