Two types of admissions authority operate for secondary schools in the Borough. For secondary schools with Foundation Status the governing body is the admissions authority and for academies, the Academy Trust is the admission authority.
Officers of the LA maintain close liaison with secondary head teachers on all educational matters. The head teachers, as a body, have expressed the opinion that all secondary schools in Redcar & Cleveland serve their community well and provide a first class, all round education. Given this, Redcar & Cleveland head teachers hope that all parents/guardians would give consideration to their admission zone school .
Parents should note that attendance of a child at a particular primary school does not entitle him/her to a place in a particular secondary school. Places at secondary school are offered in accordance with the procedures outlined below.
