  • Is my Direct Debit still set up?
    At the bottom of the bill, under the instalments it will say what payment plan you are on.
  • I want to set up a standing order. What are the Council's bank details?
    The Council's Bank Account number is 41200136
    The Sort Code is 54-30-34
    The name of the account is 'collection fund'

    ***Please quote your council tax account number as a reference if you are setting up a standing order***
  • Ipay my account by standing order but it says cash payments on my bill.
    This is just the way that our system is set up. Standing order will show as cash payments. Your standing orders will still be accepted if you pay that way. .
  • How many months is my bill over?
    The instalments will show at the bottom of your bill. They are usually spread over 10 months between April and January.
  • Can I pay my bill over 12 months?
    You can request for the bill to be paid over 12 months. You can ask at any time for your instalments to be extended to the end of March 2019
  • My bill is showing a credit amount from last year. Can I have a refund?
    You can request a refund, but you bill takes the credit into account which has reduced your bill. If we refund you, we will need to send you a bill for a higher amount.
    We would recommend that you leave the credit on your account rather than asking us to refund you and then send you a bill for more money.
  • When is my first payment due?
    The payment plan will show at the bottom of the bill. Your first payment will be due on either 1st, 8th, 15th and 25th April 2017.
  • Do I need to make a new claim or will my Council Tax Support go onto my new bill?
    If your claim is still active and you have had no changes in your circumstances, then the Council Tax Support will automatically be applied to your new bill.
  • My Direct Debit is on the 25th of each month, when will my payments end?
    If the Direct Debit is set up for the first payment to be made in April, and you have not extended your instalments, then your last payment will be in January 2019.
  • Can I extend my payments until March if I pay weekly by cash?
    Cash instalments are weekly for a maximum of 48 weeks with effect from 1st April 2018.
  • I did not receive a Single Persons Discount form?
    If you already receive a Single Person Discount this will have been included on your current bill.
  • Can I change my method of payment to Direct Debit?
    We can set a direct debit up over the phone or we can send out a direct debit mandate for you.

In the interests of reducing fraud and improving efficiency, please note that from 1st November 2017, the Council will no longer issue cheques. All payments will be automated through your bank account. If you are entitled to receive a payment from Redcar & Cleveland Council and we do not have your bank details already, we will contact you by letter. We will never contact you by telephone.
