Publicity for Planning Applications

  1. Applications for Major Development (as defined in the Town and Country Planning (Development Management Procedure)(England) Order 2010 ; proposals within a Conservation Area; applications for Listed Building Consent, departures (from local planning policy) and development which is accompanied by an Environmental Statement will be advertised by means of a press notice and site notice. In addition, adjacent residents/occupiers will be notified by letter.

  2. For other applications, adjacent residents/occupiers will be notified by letter. Adjacent is defined as those whose properties adjoin the application site and includes those who are opposite or to the rear of the application site i.e. would adjoin if there were no intervening roads/highways.

  3. Where all those who adjoin the site cannot be identified off the OS plan, then a site notice will be displayed as well as individual letters to those who can be identified.

  4. For applications which relate to hot food uses/cafes/public houses and telecommunications a site notice will be displayed in addition to neighbour notification.

  5. Where six or more neighbours are notified of an individual proposal the Ward Councillors will be advised of the application.

  6. Plans for all current applications are available to view at Redcar and Cleveland House, Kirkleatham Street, Redcar and on the Councils website (go to Planning Search). Parish/Town Council offices are notified of planning applications within their boundary. You may wish to contact your Parish/Town Council to make arrangements to view the plans at their offices.
