Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Cllr Mark Hannon said, "The Council is working in partnership with representatives of Longbeck Industrial Estate to improve the management of the common areas of the site including the roads and sewers. The partners have held regular meetings to drive forward improvements and at the meeting on 28 September it was announced that Northumbrian Water has agreed to adopt the sewerage system on the site. This is a significant result for the partnership who will now be visiting each of the businesses on the site to get them more involved in helping to tackle the issues on the estate. It is vital that we continue to take a collective approach to the challenges facing the estate so that the owners and occupiers who are responsible for its upkeep can continue to work in partnership with the Council to secure long term improvements."
