Do you want to start a new career in social work to help improve the lives of children, adults and families within your area? The Step Up to Social Work programme will give you the chance to work towards a social care qualification with support from professionals.
The 14-months programme, which runs across the North-East region, gives students the opportunity to get social work experience through placements in a local authority while undertaking their qualification. At the end of the course, you’ll be awarded a Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work.
In order to apply to join the programme, you will need:
- A minimum 2:2 level 6 degree qualification in a subject other than Social Work, for example an honours degree or a graduate certificate
- GCSEs in English or English Language and Mathematics at grade C or above, or the new grade 4 and above (or an approved equivalent)
- Experience in working with vulnerable children, young people or adults
During the programme you will receive face-to-face academic sessions, online teaching and self-directed learning, as well as 170 days of placement experience within an allocated Local Authority.
You can find out more information and meet some of the staff and current students by joining an online informative session on 8 March from 5pm to 6pm. You can register for the session at https://forms.office.com/e/6KBuGd7K7p
