​​​​​​Street Trading Consent

The sale of goods from streets within the borough of Redcar & Cleveland requires a prior consent to do so. All streets in this Borough are designated as consent streets except for ​major arterial routes through the Borough, which are prohibited streets (the list is shown below). No trading can take place on consent streets unless a permit has been granted, and then only in accordance with any conditions attached.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council will not allow trading at all on prohibited streets/roads.
A street trading consent may be granted for an​y period not exceeding 12 months but may be revoked at ant time.
​You must be over 17 years of age to hold a licence.
How much will ​​it cost to apply?
Fees are payable after the consent has been granted.
Standard consent (12 Months) - £250
Redcar Pedestrianised Area (12 Months) - £1,775
Single Day Event - £67

How do I apply?
Along with a completed application form, applicant's must:
  • Provide evidence to show that you have permission from the landowner to trade in the location specified;
  • Provide a plan of the proposed area you wish to trade from;
  • Provide photographs of the vehicle, stall, barrow or similar that you wish to trade from
