Local licensing authorities have regulatory obligations under the Gambling Act 2005 for licensing gambling premises and issuing permits and permissions.
Where an individual or company uses premises, or causes or permits premises to be used to offer gambling, a premises licence is required.
The following authorisations are issued by the Council:
- Premises Licences (betting, bingo, gaming centres and casinos)
- Provisional Statements
- Club Gaming Permits and/or Club Machine Permits
- Family Entertainment Centre Gaming Machine Permits
- Licensed Premises Gaming Machine Permits
- Small Society Lottery Registrations
- Prize Gaming Permits

Gambling Codes of Practice
The Gambiling Commission has set out a code of practice to be followed by Local Authorities. More information about the code of practice is available on the Gambling Commission website here.
