The Redcar and Cleveland Food Hygiene Team
Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council's Environmental Health (Commercial) Team is responsible for the enforcement of Food Hygiene and Food Standards regulations. This work includes routine inspections, investigation of complaints and enforcement action where necessary.
The Council operates the Food Standard Agencys Food Hygiene Rating Scheme. Information on how the scheme works, and to search for ratings in our area please visit the FSA website
Should you have any complaints about the hygiene conditions of a food business in the area or food that you have purchased then please do not hesitate to contact us on the number or email address below. Alternatively, you can submit your complaint through the Food Standard Agency's website
. All complaints are dealt with in the strictest confidence.
Starting a Food Business
Before starting your new food business you will need to register with us at least 28 days before opening. Registration applies to most types of food business, including catering businesses run from home and mobile or temporary premises, such as stalls and vans. If you have more than one business you will need to register all of them.
