What are Outside Bodies?
Outside Bodies are the collective name for those organisations on which the Council has representation. The organisations on the Outside Body Register fall into three categories:
- Statutory Bodies - that have a legal requirement for the Council to be represented.
- Voluntary Organisations - that shares with the Council a common interest in promoting the welfare of the community.
- Service Linked Organisations - that are useful to the Council in the operation of its services, or that share a common interest with the council.
The Councils representatives are singularly and/or jointly by Elected Members, Officers of the council and nominated members of the public who have interest, experience or qualifications relevant to a particular organisation.
Each Outside Body has their own aims and objectives that relate to their organisations purpose.
