Step Into Coaching
Step Into Coaching aims to offer residents of Redcar and Cleveland the opportunity to take the first step into coaching / volunteering by undertaking a Level 2 Community Sports Leader Award. This is a nationally recognised qualification that will enable individuals to independently lead small groups of people in sport and physical activity.
The qualification teaches generic leadership skills such as organisation, planning, communication and teamwork through the medium of sport. It is a fun and practical qualification with no entrance requirements or final examinations to sit. The opportunity to gain a first aid qualification will also be on offer.
The programme is for residents of the borough who are aged 16 and above. The course will involve 30 hours of guided learning (theory and practical) and 10 hours of volunteering within a placement in a local sports club, school or community group. The course is £30 per person, with payment secures booking.
The course is delivered by the Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council's Sports Development Team, who will also be on hand to support with accessing the volunteering placements and future plans in terms of using the qualification.
