Stressed, anxious, depressed, low self-esteem? Many people have these feelings at some time. But if you cant get on with your life because of them, you may need to get help Emotional Well Being is used here to describe a wide range of issues which can affect young people such as Depression, Eating Disorders, and Bullying, Self Harm, and Behavioural problems, Anger Management or Mental Health Problems

If one thing is not working as well as it should in our lives, it can leave us with strange and unfamiliar feelings that we don't know what to do with, especially if we ignore it or don't take steps to understand it or make it better.

Most people can learn to live successfully with stress or negative feelings. However, more serious mental health problems can leave someone feeling overwhelmed by life, and can also be worrying or disturbing for the people around them
Emotional Well Being

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAHMS):
They offer a range of services which provide help and treatment to young people who are experiencing emotional or behavioural difficulties, or mental health problems, disorders and illnesses.

Referrals into Specialist CAMHS can be made by the following

  • GP
  • Qualified Health Professionals (School Nurse, Health visitor)
  • Educational Psychology
  • Social Worker
You can be supported to do this by other relevant professionals, such as Connexions Personal Advisers or College Tutors.

Informal discussions regarding referrals or pathway for accessing service can take place by calling the Ridings Station Rd Redcar (01642 516755)

From the age of 18 young people would usually be seen by Adult Mental Health services which again should be accessed via the young persons GP
