Kirkleatham Museum is the local history museum for the Borough of Redcar and Cleveland. The main purpose of the Museum is to illustrate how both ordinary and distinguished people have lived in the locality in the past. The Museums collections are drawn mainly from the communities throughout the region.

Educational and Group Visits - we provide a changing range of temporary exhibitions throughout the year, as well as associated special activities, events, crafts and guided walks. Many of these are suitable for school and group visits or for out of school groups, playschemes and holiday activities.

Family Activities - During school holidays Kirkleatham hold various events for school children. Please keep posted for the up and coming events for the next half term. All materials are provided. Craft sessions are 'drop in' and run between 10am -12 Noon and 1pm - 4pm. Most activities take about half an hour to complete. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Gardens - including children's play area and picnic area.

Refreshments - Lillies' Cafe offers a selection of meals in pleasant indoor or outdoor surroundings.

School groups and party visits - guided tours and special facilities bookable in advance.

Inside museum is reception desk and shop sales counter selling souvenirs, books, postcards and gifts. Our friendly and helpful staff will be pleased to help you get around the displays. Please ask if you would like some help. Museum has three floors and is completely accessible for wheelchair users. Guide dogs and hearing dogs are welcome in the museum and in the cafe.

Booking is necessary: For School and Group bookings please contact Liz Vine, Education Officer, at the Museum.
Drop-in facilities: Holiday Craft Activities - places on a first come first served basis. Other activities to do around the museum and grounds while waiting for a place. Costs from 50p- £3.50
