Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council recognise that people are its most valuable asset and are the key to the Councils success in achieving its vision in the delivery of best value services to the community it serves and is dedicated towards creating a culture of support and opportunity to enable all residents and staff to grow and develop.

Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council is committed to supporting people into work and improving their employability through the performance of its Apprenticeship programme.

Our aims are to:
· Manage an Apprenticeship programme that will provide clearly identifiable posts with appropriate quality training and nationally recognised qualifications.
· Support Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council to gradually renew its workforce over the medium term.
· Develop young people to achieve economic well-being and a positive future.
· Endeavour to provide job opportunities for young people
· Support its Investing in People status by providing structured training to contribute to their development.
From its inception the Redcar and Cleveland Apprenticeship programme has always been seen as a learning curve for all concerned and that a flexible approach would be required to make it a success.

Key to the success of the programme has been the strong relationships forged with training providers, directorates across the council, the National Apprenticeship Service and most importantly the young people themselves.

Regular reviews take place with recruiting managers, training providers, HR and apprentices to evaluate work place performance. This structured approach in implementing the Apprenticeship programme, has benefited apprentices by giving them a solid foundation to commence their apprenticeship journey.

· Work with training providers to create specific packages to meet council requirements
