We believe that Kirkleatham can become a major regional visitor attraction and a showcase destination for our local heritage, talent and residents. It will be an inspirational place for culture, leisure, business and training bringing opportunities for greater prosperity, employment and wellbeing across our communities.
Over the coming years, the Council aims to secure a sustainable future for the Kirkleatham Estate that would include:
- An inspirational place with free public access for recreation, leisure,tranquillity, health and wellbeing;
- A fantastic regional, or possibly national, visitor attraction which celebrates the past and inspires current and future generations, providing a cultural magnet for the North of England;
- A centre developed with the community for the community, where existing groups can contribute and benefit - encouraging others to do the same;
- A place where business and education can come together to inspire and develop the next generation of entrepreneurs and skilled workers;
- A place where our heritage can be protected, improved and developed to enhance the future and where nature can be nurtured for the benefit of the environment, wildlife and people; and
- A centre for regeneration which will act as a catalyst for wider physical and community regeneration, bringing opportunities for greater prosperity, employment and wellbeing across our communities.
The Walled Garden, Catering and Horticultural Academies will also play a significant part in the development of the Kirkleatham Estate. You can find further information about the restoration and development here.
