Famous Foods

Lemon Top Ice Creams
Leomon Top Ice Creams
Pacitto is the original creator of the 'Lemon top' ice cream in the area, they are located on Redcar sea front and the High Street selling their signature cone. The lemon top consists of dairy ice cream in a cone, with a blob of lemon sorbet on top. The name "Pacittos" was derived from the name of an Italian family, who owned the shop in Redcar, and another member of the family that owned the shop in Scarborough.

Chicken Parmesan

The parmesan originated in Middlesbrough and is very popular in the Redcar & Cleveland area. The 'parmo' is made from chicken or pork fillets that are flattened, dipped into egg and bread crumbs then fried. Béchamel sauce is then poured onto the cooked chicken then topped with a hard cheese such as cheddar rather than Parmesan cheese which originally gave the dish its name. The parmo is then grilled or baked to melt the cheese and is usually served with chips, salad and garlic sauce.

Fish & Chips

Fish and chips are a popular take-away food and always taste better by the seaside! Fish and chips consist of cod or haddock battered and deep fried, served with chips. It is tradition to eat your fish and chips along the seafront with the sea breeze blowing in your hair.
