Annual Audit and Inspection Letters

Each year, the Audit Commission, who are an independent body responsible for ensuring that public money is spend economically, efficiently and effectively, provides an overall summary of their assessment of the Council. It gives findings and conclusions from the audit of the Council undertaken in the last year from a wider analysis of Council performance and its improvement over the last year.

The purpose of preparing and issuing annual audit letters is to communicate to the audited body and key external stakeholders, including members of the public, the key issues from the auditor's work.
