Temporary accommodation

Introduction

Temporary accommodation may be arranged, if necessary, while your Homelessness Application is considered. Due to limited housing stock within the Borough and the current refurbishment work programmes being carried out by housing providers, we may have to place people in Bed and Breakfast accommodation.

If you are eligible for Housing Benefit you will be issued with a green form which must be taken to the office you claim your Benefits from, in order to notify them of your change of address. When the form has been signed, it should be returned to the Homelessness Section

After completing the form, Housing Benefits may contact you for further information. You must provide this as soon as possible or you will be charged the full cost of the accommodation.

If you are staying in Bed and Breakfast you will be required to pay a service charge. Your caseworker will inform you of how much you need to pay and that it should be paid weekly to the Bed and Breakfast Manager.

'If you do not pay the service charge you will be asked to leave'.

While staying in temporary accommodation, you must notify the Homelessness Section of any changes in your circumstances.
