Support for Carers

If you provide unpaid care for an adult with a disability or health problem you might need support to help you look after your own health and wellbeing.

We can arrange for an assessment of your needs to help you continue in your role as carer, even if the person you care for does not receive care and support from Adult Social Care.

You do not have to live in the borough as long as the person needing care and support lives in Redcar & Cleveland.

The type of support available includes
  • Information and advice including financial and legal
  • Support groups
  • Counselling
  • Activities and events
  • Breaks from caring

Carers assessments are carried out on the Councils behalf by Carers Together, a local organisation based in Redcar.

Carers Together is a registered charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for carers. It offers a wide range of services, information, advice and support for carers either on an individual basis or in groups. Support is available in community venues, by phone or by email.

You can contact Carers Together directly to arrange an assessment or to request other information and advice about being a carer. Alternatively, you can contact us.
