Attendance and Welfare Service - Child Employment and Entertainment

Child Employment
Part-time work can be a very positive experience for young people and give them some independence and responsibility. Parents must ensure their child is registered with the Local Authority and has a permit to work. Employers have responsibility for children in their employ and should apply to the Attendance and Welfare Service for the permit by completing the ENT1 application form.

The application form, leaflet Guide to Employment of Children and Byelaws for the Employment of Children is attached.

Entertainment Licences
The Attendance and Welfare Service is also responsible for issuing Performance Licences. The application form (ENT1) and health questionnaire (ENT2) should be completed and submitted to the Attendance and Welfare Service. The application form, health questionnaire and guidance for entertainment/performances is attached.

For further information contact the Attendance and Welfare Service, The Cooper Centre, South Bank tel. no. 01642 837737 / 837738.

Chaperone Licences
The Children (Performance) Regulations 1968, The Children and Young Persons Act 1963, Children (Protection at Work) Regulations 1998 and Children (Performances) (Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations 1998 and The Children (Performances and Activities) (England) Regulations 2014 lay down the Regulations for Chaperones.

These provide Chaperones registered by Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council with some guidelines on how to carry out their duties in their care of children appearing in performances. The Chaperone's first priority is always to the child. They are the key person to whom the child looks for guidance and support, to have care and control of a child and to safeguard and promote the wellbeing of the child while s/he is taking part in a performance, rehearsal, activity or living away from home during the period of the licence.

See APP A R& C Matron Application form and Chaperone Guidance attached.
