AAP: Action Area Plan
Area of proposed significant change.

AMR: Annual Monitoring Report
Monitoring Report assessing the progress and policy effectiveness of the Local Development Framework.

CS: Community Strategy for Redcar & Cleveland
The long term vision and action plan for Redcar & Cleveland articulating the aspirations, needs and priorities of the local community.

DP: Development Plan
The policies and proposals for the development and use of land and buildings. Consists of the Regional Spatial Strategy and the Development Plan Documents.

DPD: Development Plan Document
A Local Development Document in the Local Development Framework which forms part of the statutory Development Plan for the area.

LDD: Local Development Document
The various individual documents (Development Plan Documents, Statement of Community Involvement, Supplementary Planning Documents) in the Local Development Framework.

LDF: Local Development Framework
The overarching term given to the collection of Local Development Documents prepared by the local planning authority.

LDS: Local Development Scheme
The programme management plan that sets out details of the documents and supplementary planning documents the planning authority propose to prepare over a three-year period and the timetable for their preparation.

LPA: Local Planning Authority
The local authority is empowered by law to exercise planning functions. Outside the North York Moors National Park this is Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council.

NPPF: National Planning Policy Framework
Sets out the Government's planning policies.

P&CP Act: Planning & Compulsory Purchase Act 2004
Government legislation bringing a new approach to development planning, compulsory purchase and procedure. The Act updates elements of the 1990 Town & Country Planning Act.

SA/SEA: Sustainability Appraisal and Strategic Environmental Assessment
An assessment of economic, social and environmental impacts to be carried out at key stages of the preparation of Development Plan Documents.

SCI: Statement of Community Involvement
The Statement of Community Involvement will set out how and when stakeholders and other interested parties will be consulted in the preparation of the Local Development Framework.

SPD: Supplementary Planning Document
Supplementary Planning Documents give additional information and general guidance on the interpretation of policies or proposals in the Development Plan Documents.
