Do I need a permit to use the Household Waste Recycling Centre?

Only residents of the borough are permitted to use the HWRC. Anyone attempting to deliver commercial, business or industrial waste to the recycling centre will be refused entry.

Residents who obtain a vehicle permit for Dunsdale HWRC are advised that additional charges will also apply from the 4th April to dispose of:

  • Hardcore, Rubble & Ceramics
  • Plasterboard
  • Asbestos

Permit Information

There is a £49 charge per permit issued. This will entitle the permit holder to 6 tips within a year.

Permits will only be issued on production of the vehicles registration document (V5), latest utility bill and a current driving licence.

Permits are limited to one per household. Residents with two or more vehicles will have to denote which vehicle they require the permit for.

Permits can be obtained from:

  • Seafield House, Kirkleatham Street, Redcar, TS10 1SP
  • Guisborough Library, 90 Westage, Guisborough, TS14 6AP
  • Low Grange District Centre, Normanby Road, South Bank. TS6 6TD (credit cards only)
Permits must be presented at the site, prior to off-loading items.

Only residents of Redcar & Cleveland Borough are permitted to use the Household Waste Recycling Centre.

Permits for Hire Vans / pick-ups

Permits will ONLY be issued to vans / pick ups, no greater than a standard transit van.

Permits for hire vans / pick-ups can be issued up to 3 visits in one 24-hour period. There is a £49 charge per permit issued.

The hire van / pick up must not exceed 3.5t GVW, a valid permit must be produced at the HWRC. Anyone attending site without a valid permit will be refused entry. The vehicle permit will be stamped and dated by site personnel, authorising use of the HWRC facility.

To obtain a permit, the driver of the hire vehicle must have the hire documents and his / her driving licence and must apply at one of the following administration offices:

  • Guisborough Library, 90 Westage, Guisborough, TS14 6AP
  • Seafield House, Kirkleatham Street, Redcar, TS10 1SP
  • Low Grange Health Village, Normanby Road, TS6 6TD
Once the three visits and/or 24 hour period has expired, the permit will be retained by the Household Waste Recycling Centre Staff. A new permit can be applied for following the expiration of the rolling twelve-month period it was granted in.

Monitoring of access

Registration and vehicle details are shown on the front of your permit and must match that of the vehicle wanting entry. If they do not match you will be refused entry.
